Wispr Flow vs Aqua Voice: which one to pick for dictating on your computer

In short
Wispr Flow and Aqua Voice both dictate in any app on Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android, and both need the internet on a computer. Pick Wispr Flow if you need more languages (it dictates in 100+; Aqua Voice, in 49), if you want meeting notes on Mac and Windows, or a free plan that resets every week: 2,000 words on desktop. Pro is USD 15 a month or USD 144 a year. Pick Aqua Voice if you want to pay less (Pro: USD 12 a month or USD 120 a year, and 70% off for students), write your own style rules, or see your words as you speak (on the Max plan). Its free plan is 1,000 words to try it out. If you want to dictate offline, there's a short note on Loro at the end.
What they have in common
Both are voice dictation apps: hold a key (fn on a Mac), talk, let go, and clean text shows up in whatever app you have open, formatted for that app. Both run on Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android, have a dictionary for your names and work terms, and voice shortcuts that expand into longer text, like your email address or a link. And both let you select some text and ask for changes by voice (on Wispr Flow, with Pro).
Both turn your voice into text in the cloud, so on a computer both need the internet. If you allow it, both can read the text on your screen to get names and terms right. And both have SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001.

Where Aqua Voice wins
- Price. Pro is USD 12 a month or USD 120 a year (USD 10 a month), versus USD 15 or USD 144 for Wispr Flow. Students get 70% off Pro and Max: Pro comes to USD 3 a month billed yearly. On Wispr Flow, the discount for students and educators is 50%.

Privacy
- Wispr Flow: turns your voice into text in the cloud and stores data in the United States. On the Free and Pro plans, it uses your dictations and meetings to improve its models unless you turn that off. You can choose not to keep your dictation history on their servers; meeting notes are stored in their cloud.
- Aqua Voice: turns your voice into text in the cloud and doesn't sell your audio or share it with advertisers. Its Privacy Mode is off by default, which means it may store your transcripts on its servers to improve the product; turn it on and they aren't stored. Your history, with the text and the audio, stays on your device. Deep Context, which takes a screenshot when you start dictating, is optional, and the screenshot isn't kept. In Max's live mode, your audio goes through another speech recognition provider. Business can enforce privacy mode and zero data retention for the whole team.
Both have SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 and offer HIPAA contracts (BAA). Local vs cloud dictation: what changes.
