Loro vs Wispr Flow: which one to pick for dictating on your computer

In short
Loro and Wispr Flow do the same basic thing: you hold a shortcut, talk, and clean text appears in any app; and both take notes of your meetings without adding a bot. Pick Loro if you want to pay less (USD 9.99 a month or USD 80 a year, versus USD 15 a month for Wispr Flow Pro), if you also want to dictate offline, or if you'd like an app and website in Spanish as well as English. Pick Wispr Flow if you need to dictate on your phone (iPhone and Android), in more than 100 languages, or need company features like SSO and HIPAA.
What they have in common
Both are voice dictation apps for your computer. You don't open anything: put the cursor where you want to write, hold a keyboard shortcut, talk and let go. The text appears, without filler words and with punctuation, in Gmail, Word, WhatsApp, ChatGPT or wherever you are.
Wispr Flow now takes meeting notes too (Wispr Notetaker, on Mac and Windows), like Loro: both listen from your computer and neither adds a bot to the call.

How dictation works in each
In Loro: hold Ctrl + Win (fn on a Mac), talk the way you talk, and let go. Loro removes the "um"s, adds periods, commas and capitals and, when you're online, understands when you correct yourself: "at 5, no, at 6" becomes "at 6". If there's nowhere to type, it copies the text and tells you. If you started by mistake, press Esc before letting go and nothing is typed.
In Wispr Flow: you also hold a shortcut and talk. It fixes grammar, removes filler words and understands when you change your mind mid-sentence.
In both you can select some text and ask for changes by voice, like "make it shorter" or "translate it to Spanish" (in Loro, with Pro: select the text and hold Ctrl + Win).
Privacy
- Loro: your voice is not stored. Online, it's turned into text in the cloud and the recording is deleted as soon as it's text; if you'd rather your voice never left your computer, pick "On your computer" in Settings. Dictation text is kept for 30 days to improve Loro, and you can turn that off or delete it in Settings › Privacy. Local vs cloud dictation: what changes.
- Wispr Flow: your voice is processed in the cloud. On the Free and Pro plans it uses your dictations and meetings to improve its models, unless you turn that setting off (it used to be called Privacy Mode). You can also choose not to keep your dictation history on its servers; meeting notes are stored in its cloud.
