Wispr Flow vs Typeless: which one to pick for dictating on your computer

In short
Wispr Flow and Typeless both dictate in any app on Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android, in more than 100 languages, and Pro costs the same if you pay for the year: USD 144. Pick Wispr Flow if you want meeting notes (on Mac and Windows), if you'd rather pay month to month (USD 15, versus USD 30 for Typeless) or if your company asks for SOC 2 Type II. Pick Typeless if you use Linux, if you want to translate as you speak and edit by voice on the free plan, or if you'd rather your dictations never be used to train models. If you also want to dictate offline, there's a short note on Loro at the end.
What they have in common
Both are voice dictation apps: put your cursor where you want to write, use a keyboard shortcut, talk, and the text shows up in whatever app you have open, without filler words, with punctuation, and fixed when you change your mind mid-sentence. Both run on Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android, dictate in more than 100 languages, adjust the tone to each app, and have a dictionary that learns when you correct a word.
Both turn your voice into text in the cloud, so both need the internet. And on both, a team can pay for everyone together starting with the Pro plan.

Where Wispr Flow wins
- Meeting notes. Wispr Notetaker records your meetings on Mac and Windows without adding a bot, labels who said what and answers questions about them. It's on the free plan with a weekly limit. Typeless's plans don't include meeting notes.
- Half the price month to month. Pro is USD 15 a month; Typeless charges USD 30. Paid yearly, both cost USD 144.
- A free plan with a clear limit. You get 2,000 words a week on desktop. Typeless's free plan also has a weekly limit, but it doesn't say how many words.
- Teams and companies. Pro works for teams with no seat minimum, and Growth adds SSO from USD 18 per person a month, paid by card with no sales call. On Typeless, SSO comes with the Enterprise plan, priced by quote.
- SOC 2 Type II. Wispr Flow has SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001. Typeless has ISO 27001; its SOC 2 is in progress, according to its trust center.
Where Typeless wins
- Linux. Typeless has a Linux app, besides Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android. Wispr Flow doesn't run on Linux.
- It translates as you speak. With its translate shortcut, you talk in your own language and the text comes out in the language you pick, phrased the way a local reader would expect. It works on your computer and your phone, on the free plan too.
- Editing by voice, free. On your computer, select some text and ask for changes, or ask a question about text you can't edit, like a paragraph on a website (Ask anything). On Wispr Flow, editing by voice (Command Mode) is Pro only.
- It doesn't train models on your dictations. Typeless processes your voice and its context in the cloud and discards them as soon as it sends the text back; your history stays on your device. Wispr Flow uses your dictations to improve its models on Free and Pro unless you turn that off.
- In Spanish. Typeless's website and help center come in Spanish, and the app comes in 58 interface languages. Wispr Flow's website is in English.

Privacy
- Wispr Flow: turns your voice into text in the cloud and stores data in the United States. On the Free and Pro plans, it uses your dictations and meetings to improve its models unless you turn that off. You can choose not to keep your dictation history on their servers; meeting notes are stored in their cloud.
- Typeless: turns your voice into text in the cloud, along with a little context (the app you're in and some of its text), and discards it as soon as it sends the result back. It doesn't train models on your dictations, and neither do its AI providers; it only uses your corrections if you send feedback and give permission. Your history stays on your device, and you choose how long it's kept; if you turn on Pro's sync, the text is stored in their cloud. Data is processed in the United States.
Wispr Flow has SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001. Typeless has ISO 27001 and says it complies with GDPR and HIPAA; its SOC 2 is in progress. Local vs cloud dictation: what changes.
