How to dictate in Notion with your voice (Windows and Mac)

In short
Notion has no button for dictating into your pages. Its voice input, which came to the desktop version in April 2026, is for talking to Notion AI, and AI Meeting Notes transcribes meetings. To write a page with your voice, use your computer's dictation (Windows + H on Windows, or Mac dictation) or an app like Loro: click in the page, hold Ctrl + Win (fn on a Mac), talk and let go.
Notion has no dictation for your pages
What Notion does with voice is something else:
- Voice input for Notion AI. Since April 6, 2026, Notion AI has voice input on desktop: you talk to it instead of typing, for example to dictate a long prompt. What you say reaches the AI as a request.
- AI Meeting Notes. It transcribes your meetings and pulls out the key points and action items. You start it by typing /meet on a page in the desktop app and choosing to start transcribing. The transcript stays inside the AI Meeting Notes block. You need the Business or Enterprise plan. When you start, you confirm that everyone in the meeting agreed to be recorded and transcribed, so tell them first.
To write in any page with your voice, you have two options: your computer's dictation or a dictation app. (On your phone, the keyboard's microphone does dictate in Notion.)
Option 1: your computer's dictation
It works in Notion and in any other app, and it's already on your computer.
- On Windows: click in the page where you want to write and press Windows + H. To stop, click the microphone on the voice typing bar. It needs the internet. How to use Windows voice typing.
- On a Mac: turn it on in Apple menu › System Settings › Keyboard › Dictation. Then, with the cursor in Notion, press the Microphone key or your shortcut. To stop, press the Microphone key or your shortcut again. How to use Mac dictation.
Good for: dictating in any app without installing anything. Missing: removing filler words. It types exactly what you say: if you said "um", it types it, and if you corrected yourself mid-sentence, both versions stay.
Option 2: Loro
Loro types what you said, minus the "um"s and the half-sentence you corrected.
- Download Loro for free for Windows or Mac.
- Click in the Notion page where the text goes.
- Hold Ctrl + Win (fn on a Mac) and talk the way you talk.
- Let go. The text appears where your cursor is.
In the Notion app, when you're online, Loro writes in paragraphs and, if you name three or more things, makes a list with dashes. In Notion in the browser, Loro types at your cursor too.
For example, you're setting up a launch page in the Notion app and you say:
um, for Thursday's launch, no wait, Friday's, we need three things, uh, the product photos, the copy for the website and the list of customers getting the email, like, Valeria's handling the photos
And Loro types:
For Friday's launch we need three things:
- The product photos
- The copy for the website
- The list of customers getting the email
Valeria is handling the photos. An idea that doesn't belong on the page. Start with "Loro, note" and Loro doesn't paste anything: it saves the idea in your Loro Notes. For example: "Loro, note: ask Martín for the budget before Monday".
Good for: dictating in Notion and any other app without filler words. Missing: it doesn't come installed (you have to download it), and lists and self-corrections need the internet; offline, it still types and removes filler words. Rewriting by voice ("make it shorter") is Pro-only, and the free plan dictates 2,000 words a week.

Tips for dictating in Notion
- Dictate one block at a time. Say one idea, let go, check it, keep going.
- For a list, name the items in a row: "we need three things: …". In the Notion app, Loro lists them with dashes.
- Add names to your dictionary: your team, your clients, your projects. If you fix a name after dictating it, Loro learns it.
- To shorten or reorganize, select the text and, with Loro Pro, hold Ctrl + Win and say "make it shorter" or "turn this into a list". It needs the internet.
