Privacy: what Loro keeps and how to delete it
In short
Your voice isn't kept: online, it's turned into text in the cloud and the recording is deleted right away; if you choose On your computer, it never leaves it. Your meetings' audio is never kept. What is kept is text: your dictations (30 days), your notes (until you delete them) and a copy of your notes in your account, for your AI. You can turn all of it off or delete it in Settings › Privacy.
What's kept
| What | Where | How long | How to turn it off or delete it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your voice and your calls' audio | Not kept | — | — |
| The text of your dictations, to improve Loro | In the cloud | 30 days | "Help improve Loro with my dictations" and "Delete my dictations from the cloud" |
| Your dictations, so you can copy them again | On your computer | 30 days | "Save my dictations" and "Delete my dictations" |
| Your notes and what was said | On your computer | Until you delete them | "Delete my notes" |
| A copy of your notes and to-dos, as text | In your Loro account | Until you delete it | "Save my notes and to-dos to my account" and "Delete my notes and to-dos from the cloud" |
| Your dictionary and how you write | On your computer | Until you change them | In "Settings › Personalization" |
| A fingerprint of your voice and of named voices (numbers, never audio) | On your computer | Until you delete it | "Recognize voices" and "Forget voices", in "Settings › Call notes" |
All of that is in Settings › Privacy, unless it says otherwise. What's kept in the cloud is never sold or used for ads. The only thing we tell Meta is that you downloaded Loro from heyloro.app or paid for Pro, to know which ads work: the privacy policy explains it.
Your voice
- In the cloud (the default, when you're online): Loro understands noise and accents better. Your voice goes to Loro's server and is deleted as soon as it's text.
- On your computer: your voice and your calls never leave your computer. You choose it in Settings › Dictation › Where I turn your voice into text.
- Offline, everything happens on your computer.
Other things worth knowing
- What's already written where you dictate: to spell names right, Loro reads the text around your cursor and the window title. Online, it goes to the cloud along with the dictation and isn't saved. Never in passwords or banking apps. You turn it off with Use what's already written where you dictate.
- Cloud summaries: online, your meeting note is written in the cloud; only the meeting's text gets there, and it isn't kept. You can turn it off in Settings › Call notes.
- Write with your screen: the screenshot isn't saved.
- Your Google account: Loro only uses your name, email and photo. From your calendar, only your meetings' title, time, people and link.
- Your AI: when an AI you connected reads your notes, that text is sent to that AI.
- Recognize voices: to know who is talking, even when the meeting is on your phone or in person, Loro learns how your voice sounds when you dictate, and each person's voice once it has a name. It keeps only a fingerprint (numbers), never the audio, and it never leaves your computer. You can turn it off in Settings › Call notes, and turning it off forgets it.
All the details are in the privacy policy.
