Wispr Flow vs Granola: meeting notes and dictation, which one to pick

In short
Both take notes of your meetings without adding a bot, on Mac and Windows, and both dictate into other apps. Pick Wispr Flow if dictation comes first: it types with your voice in any app on Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android, and its free plan gives you 2,000 words a week on desktop plus meetings with a weekly limit. Pro is USD 15 a month or USD 144 a year. Pick Granola if meetings come first: the free plan doesn't cap them (you see the last 30 days), it has phone apps for in-person meetings and it transcribes 31 languages. Business is USD 14 per person a month. Its dictation, Voice Typing, is free, but it's in beta and Mac only. If you want an app that does both in Spanish as well as English, we cover Loro at the end.
What they have in common
Both run on Mac and Windows, have a free plan and listen to your microphone and your computer's sound, so nobody new joins the call. They work with any video call app and with in-person meetings. Also:
- They give you a summary with next steps, label speakers by name in Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams, and answer questions about your meetings.
- They connect to Claude or ChatGPT through MCP, and can let people know with an automatic message in the meeting chat.
- They dictate into other apps, without filler words and with punctuation: Wispr Flow in all its apps; Granola only on Mac, in beta.
- They transcribe Spanish, but their websites and help centers are in English only.

Where Wispr Flow wins
- Dictation is its thing. It types with your voice in any app on Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android, in 100+ languages, with a dictionary and voice shortcuts. Granola's Voice Typing is in beta and Mac only; Granola says it's coming soon to Windows and phones.
- It edits by voice. With Pro, select some text and ask for changes (Command Mode). Granola's dictation never answers or acts on what you say: it only types your words.
- It costs less if you pay yearly. Pro comes to USD 144 a year; Granola Business can only be paid monthly, which adds up to USD 168.
- If you're coming from Granola, export a CSV from Granola and upload it to Wispr Flow, with your notes, summaries and transcripts (no audio).
- Certifications for dictation. Its dictation has SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001, and Wispr signs a HIPAA business associate agreement (BAA) for dictation on any plan, though signing it turns Notetaker off. Granola has SOC 2 Type II; ISO 27001 isn't available yet, and HIPAA is Enterprise only.
Where Granola wins
- No meeting limit on the free plan. Granola caps history, not meetings: you see the notes from the last 30 days, and older ones come back if you pay. Wispr Flow's free plan has a weekly limit: by default, 50 meetings of 5 minutes or more.
- Phone and watch. With its iPhone and Android apps you take notes of in-person meetings (on iPhone, calls too), and it works with Apple Watch. Wispr Notetaker is Mac and Windows only, for now.
- More languages, mixed. It transcribes 31 languages on a computer and, with its multi-language mode, keeps up when people switch from Spanish to English. Wispr Notetaker transcribes 21.
- Your notes guide the summary. You jot down what matters to you and, at the end, Granola fills it in with what was said; your part stays in black. In Wispr Flow, your notes are kept apart from the summary.
- It doesn't keep the audio. It deletes it as soon as it's transcribed; Wispr Flow keeps uploaded audio for 7 days.
- More integrations: Notion, HubSpot, Attio, Affinity and Zapier on Business, and Salesforce on Enterprise.

Privacy
- Wispr Flow: processes the audio from your microphone and computer in its cloud. Meeting transcripts and summaries are stored there, with no option to opt out of that storage, and uploaded audio is deleted after 7 days. On the Free and Pro plans, using your dictations and meetings to improve its models is on by default; you turn it off in Settings › Data and Privacy. Notetaker launched after its SOC 2 and ISO 27001 audits, so it isn't covered by them.
- Granola: deletes the audio as soon as it's transcribed and stores your notes and transcripts encrypted until you delete them; for transcripts you can set an automatic deletion period. On the Basic and Business plans it may use your anonymized data to improve its own models; you turn that off in Settings › Preferences › Data & sharing. HIPAA is Enterprise only.
- Both store your data in the United States, don't let other AI companies train on it, and ask you to tell people before you transcribe. Besides the chat message, Granola can show a watermark on your video.

And if you work in Spanish too: Loro
Wispr Flow and Granola transcribe Spanish, but their websites and help centers are in English, and so is Granola's app. Loro is a dictation and meeting notes app for Windows and Mac, in English and Spanish: the app, the website and the notes. Dictate in any app with Ctrl + Win (fn on a Mac), and it takes notes without a bot, with each person's next steps. Offline, it dictates and transcribes on your computer.
- Free: unlimited meeting notes (you see the last 30 days) and 2,000 dictation words a week.
- Pro: USD 9.99 a month or USD 80 a year.
