How to dictate on LinkedIn with your voice (Windows and Mac)

In short

LinkedIn on a computer has no button for dictating, and its voice messages (up to one minute) only work in the phone app. To write on LinkedIn with your voice, use your computer's dictation (Windows + H on Windows, or Mac dictation) or an app like Loro: click where the text goes, hold Ctrl + Win (fn on a Mac), talk and let go. Loro pastes the text and never posts or sends anything for you.

LinkedIn has no dictation on the computer

On LinkedIn in the browser, there's no microphone for dictating posts, comments or messages. The closest thing is voice messages: in the phone app you record up to a minute of audio for a 1st-degree connection or a group chat. What arrives is audio, so it won't help you write.

Option 1: your computer's dictation

It works on LinkedIn and in any other app, and it's already on your computer.

Good for: dictating in any app without installing anything. Missing: removing filler words. It types exactly what you say: if you said "um", it types it, and if you corrected yourself mid-sentence, both versions stay.

Option 2: Loro

Loro types what you said, minus the "um"s and the half-sentence you corrected.

  1. Download Loro for free for Windows or Mac.
  2. Open LinkedIn in your browser and click where the text goes: a post, a comment or a message.
  3. Hold Ctrl + Win (fn on a Mac) and talk the way you talk.
  4. Let go. The text appears where your cursor is; check it, then post or send it yourself.

On LinkedIn, when you're online, Loro writes in a conversational tone: short sentences, and no greetings or sign-offs you didn't say. A single short sentence gets no final period.

For example, to answer a recruiter, you say:

hi Sebastián, um, thanks for reaching out, uh, I'm definitely interested in the role, like, could we talk Thursday at 5, no, at 6?

And Loro types:

Hi Sebastián, thanks for reaching out. I'm definitely interested in the role. Could we talk Thursday at 6?

Good for: dictating on LinkedIn and in any other app without filler words. Missing: it doesn't come installed (you have to download it), and the conversational tone and self-corrections need the internet; offline, it still types and removes filler words. Rewriting by voice and replying by looking at your screen are Pro-only, and the free plan dictates 2,000 words a week.
